What About The Families?

Family cuddled together in a meadow.

For 11 years, I have spoken to countless desperate, confused and scared parents who learned their child had been sex trafficked. We're on a mission to help families heal from this tragedy. When a child is trafficked, there is trauma that impacts both the child, and the family unit. In response to this, we're developing a program for parents and caregivers called PATH - Parental Awareness of Trauma, Trafficking and Healing. The purpose of PATH is to support and strengthen families impacted by sex trafficking. It’s important to create space for parents/caregivers to understand the immense psychological impact sex trafficking has on both the child and the family. PATH will focus on: the many elements of trafficking; the psychological impact for all in the family unit; and emphasize the reality of the pain, but also the beauty of what healing looks like during this difficult journey. When we’re surrounded by people who care and are with others facing similar circumstances, we become stronger, and stronger together. PATH will support, encourage, and equip parents with tools they need to help their child. We want parents to be empowered on this journey, knowing that although their family story has taken an unimaginable turn, there is hope. This is not the end of their story! It’s a horrible and trying chapter, but there is power in community, and their family can come out stronger than ever, TOGETHER.
