How We Help
New Day for Children provides funding for American sex trafficked girls at various facilities and programs specializing in this type of care. This support goes a long way to provide a variety of needed services including education, restorative care, and therapy. For most families, the cost for this high level of care would far exceed what they can do on their own. New Day’s financial assistance gives her access to safety and the help she needs to recover her stolen childhood, while building her self-esteem and confidence.
With parental permission, the girls meet frequently with a licensed therapist who specializes in treating children who have been victims of trauma and abuse. The girls take part in a highly regarded horse therapy program that demonstrably impacts their mental and physical well-being. They attend horse camp a few times a year which is proven to lower blood pressure, slow our pulse and lessen anxiety. In addition to horse camp, many programs have animal therapy as a fun part of their healing experience, which builds trust, empathy and responsibility more quickly than might be otherwise possible.
In addition to schooling, which is geared to their personal level of academic achievement, the girls go on educational and extracurricular outings like boating, visits to the ocean, mission trips and more, all to help their heal mind, body and spirit.
The girls have the opportunity and joy of serving others who, like themselves, have experienced great challenges in their lives. As they serve, they move beyond victim mode to seeing themselves as persons of dignity, with something valuable and unique to contribute to society.
Since its inception, New Day for Children has placed the recovery and care of sexually trafficked children foremost in our efforts. We are committed to their well-being, and to making a lasting difference in the lives of these young women.
